Dakota Benchrest Shooters, Inc.
The primary goal of Dakota Benchrest Shooters, Inc. is safety. These rules exist to keep our members and guests safe and provide a clean and operationally sound range for many years in the future.
- This range is private property and not available for public (non-member) use unless authorized. Trespassers must be reported immediately to a board member.
- Range hours are from 7:30 A.M. until sunset. The range or parts of the range may be closed or shooting may be temporarily suspended while maintenance or improvements are in process. Maintenance crews always have the right of way.
- Alcoholic beverages and people under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted on the property.
- Eye and ear protection is mandatory for anyone shooting or near an active firing line.
- All rifles and slug shooting shotguns are permitted on the rifle ranges with the following exceptions:
- No clay target shooting
- No 50 BMG weapons
- No full automatic weapons
- No tracer ammunition
- No handguns, even those chambered in rifle calibers.
- Objects shooting (cans, bottles, jugs, etc) or shooting at wildlife is strictly prohibited.
- Rifles can only be shot from the benches. When a rifle is not in use or when anyone is down range, the rifle must have the action open, bolt removed and visible for everyone to see while in a secure position to prevent any accidental fall from the bench.
Semi-auto firearms must have the magazine removed and the action locked open when not in use. A bright colored empty chamber indicator should be placed in all action when rifles are not in use.
REMEMBER WE HAVE ONE RIFLE RANGE, ONE FIRING LINE THAT EXTEND TO THE 50 YARD RANGE. OBSERVE RULE AS ONE RANGE, DO NOT GO DOWN RANGE ON THE 50 YARD SIDE WITHOUT ENTIRE LINE BEING SAFE AT THE 100/200 BENCHES AND VISE VERSA.
- Targets must be placed securely on the backer material on the target line so that projectiles impact through your target sheet and into the designated berm. It is imperative that all projectiles impact properly through the target material and designated berm. Intentional firing into target frames or numbers will not be tolerated. If you are initially sighting in your rifle, we recommend starting at the 50 yard range prior to moving to the 100/200 yard range. Rifle sight in is also allowed at the 25 yard line at the pistol range,
ONLY FOR GETTING ON PAPER.
- Everyone is responsible for maintaining a clean range beyond your immediate shooting area. Pull all used targets, gather up expended brass and all garbage prior to leaving the range. A brass barrel, recycling and trash barrel are provided for members to separate these materials
- Scoped pistols may be fired at the 50 yard line
ONLY
after being zeroed on the 20 or 25 yard pistol targets
- Shotgun patterning is allowed at the 25 yard line as long as you use your own backer.
Do Not shoot at the 25 yard backer that is permanent
- Members are limited to a maximum of two guests per visit. Members must fill out the supplied envelopes and pay the appropriate $10 per guest fee prior to unloading any equipment from their vehicle. The member is responsible for their guests and that their guests adhere to these rules as if a member. Members cannot share their security code with non members
- At the 200 yard line is a station to the LEFT of backer #1. It has steel targets from 8 to 1 inch and is at 220 yards.
THESE TARGETS CAN ONLY BE SHOT FROM BENCHES 1 AND 2.
Shooters must coordinate their shooting. No other targets allowed.
PISTOL RANGE RULES
- No shooting of firearms in front of, underneath, or either side of the respective bench.
- Only shoot targets within your individual lane
- Only paper and adhesive targets are to be used. No exploding targets allowed. The metal targets provided by DBRS are allowed. No other targets
- Prior to going downrange, all firearms must be holstered or placed on a bench with magazine removed and slide locked open. Revolvers should have the cylinders open if possible.
- When finished, pick up expended cases (brass and steel) 22LR excluded, remove the target, and clean up your area.
